RE: A tribute to France and the French people
And Steel God it is still true. French people welcome americans when they go to France. I work in a Community College in NC and we have a study Abroad program in France and most students worry before going to France (they watch too much bad tv news) and are always surprised when they come back because the French were most of the time friendly. :)
The jokes about French Military victories/defeat became more popular during the invasion of Iraq in 2003 (I still remember it because I met a lot of unfriendly people at my work who were very aggressive with me because I was French). The Anti-French campaign (or French Bashing) was most of the time done by ignorants of their own history as well as the French history. ;)

I said it when I started this thread, I don't think you'll be disappointed by the welcome you get from the French people. I was pleasantly surprised the first time I went there, so I kept returning to see more of that country.
