Replacements: "fired upon"

Replacements: "fired upon"
Does the "must not be fired upon" rule for determining if a unit can receive replacements require that a unit takes losses, or will No Effect results also prevent a unit from absorbing replacements?

Will combat situations where a unit in the hex is fired upon with the fire hitting the entire stack (such as, for example, with defensive artillery fire), but not the unit you want to take replacements (as in: it doesn't suffer any losses) also prevent that unit from taking replacements?

RE: Replacements: "fired upon"
Any fire, regardless of effect will prevent replacements going to a unit that was fired upon-same with fatigue recovery.

Arty on an entire stack will only prevent replacements if you have the alternate artillery resolution because, with that rule, every unit in the hex is affected by the artillery. If you are using "normal" artillery fire rules, where you have to target each unit you are shooting at, the automatic defensive fire done by the AI will prevent replacements from each individual unit that is attacked by artillery.

OK, thanks.

It surprised me at first that defensive fire has a chance to hit each unit in the stack even without the alternate artillery fire resolution.
