AI fires MG thru congestion-marker hexes
FWWC East Prussia: made a custom scenario for play against the AI. Was surprised when the AI fired an MG thru a congestion-marker hex to hit my unit in the adjacent hex beyond. I thought congestion markers signified throngs of fleeing refugees? And yet the AI fires an MG 2km thru a supposedly densely packed "congestion" hex ?!?

One could assume the first shots would send them to cover and scatter.

RE: AI fires MG thru congestion-marker hexes
Do not forget elevation. The congestion hex could be below the elevation of both the firing unit and the target hex.
It seems unlikely congestion hexes as simply modeled are a 24/7 thing.

Think peaceful Dutch town like Eindhoven in Market Garden. Quiet, then huge throngs celebrating liberation when the Allied columns arrive.

Certainly different in FWWC East Prussia. However, the simple modeling is the same.

Good point--and thanks for responding.

And so I decided to test it out in the Editor. What I found is that Congestion Markers only affect movement. And so you can have as many Congestion Markers as you like, but if an MG unit is 2 hexes away from its target, and the game's current visibility rating is favourable, then the MG can fire thru Congestion Markers and hit the enemy units beyond, regardless of elevation.
