| BG-for grognards
Allo, allo.  Just back into the forums, here at the Blitz.  As Mr. Guberman, I was an agitator and scenario designer for the CS Rising Sun section.  JP, et al, know me from there.  Elsewise, I have always been an ACW nut and historian.  Not unlike some others, I suppose, I have worked up a PDT file which seems to work flawlessly at 10 men per strength point.  Which leads me into this discussion:  I recently supplemented my BG ACW collection with the Campaign ACW stuff, all of them.  Shame, still no map editor...and hoohaw...no OOB editor.  Out of the BG series, I have a PDT file that seems to consistently work at 10 men per SP...which allows for a lot of interesting possibilities.  Years ago I learned how to make maps for the BG series, but due to a comp crash and loss of data, I lost all of the maps I had been making for the West Virginia campaign of '61...and then lost interest.  But those were still at 25 men per SP.  If anyone is interesting in corresponding with me...using all of the available maps from the stock series and from the wonderful maps collected at the ACWGC site, I have rendered the following scenarios, with OOBs at 10 men per SP:Fairfax CH, Va-1 Jun 61
 Philippi, WV-3 Jun 61
(converted) Big Bethel, Va-10 Jun 61
 Cole Camp, Mo-19 Jun 61
 Falling Waters, WV-2 Jul 61
 Haggler's Woods, Mo-9 Jul 61
 Rich Mountain, WV-11 Jul 61
 Monroe Station, Mo-11 Jul 61
 Carrick's Ford, WV-13 Jul 61
 Scarrytown, WV-17 Jul 61
 Dug Springs, Mo-2 Aug 61
 Athens, Mo-5 Aug 61
Dry Wood Creek, Mo-2 Sep 61
 Carnifex Ferry, WV-10 Sep 61
Blue Mills Landing, Mo-17 Sep 61
 Barbourville, Ky-19 Sep 61
 Hanging Rock, WV-24 Sep 61
 Romney, WV-25 Sep 61
 Kanawha Gap, WV-25 Sep 61
 Greenbriar River, WV-3 Oct 61
Santa Rosa Island, Fl-9 Oct 61
 Wet Glaze, Mo-13 Oct 61
 Bolivar Heights, WV-16 Oct 61
 Camp Wildcat, Ky-21 Oct 61
 Ball's Bluff, Va-21 Oct 61
Short sharp scenarios, using the terrain where I can find it on all of the maps I know of.  And I'm currently still producing the OOBs...beating a dead horse, maybe?
If anyone would like to correspond, I would be entertained.  The OOBs are minutely exhaustive, however, the victory conditions and scenario finesse, probably needs a better hand to examine them to make them really perfect.  On my box, they hold their own, quite well...and are short sharp fun...4-5 to 10-25 turns...depending...but at 10 men per strength point, the units sure do get tired if you're not careful.  If anyone is interested in helping, or possibly collaborating...I'm all ears.

At 10 men per SP, the old BG series stands as good as the JT Campaign stuff...for grognards and freaks, I suppose.

If anyone is interested, I'll see if I can post an attachment.  The map file might make it prohibitive, here.  We can start anywhere.

 Cheers
 Gubi
