In this case he didn't wait until the bridge ops were completed.

It's a good tactic, but it works best if you have the time to build an engineer bridge, blow up the on-map hexside bridge and pack up your own engineer bridge. Otherwise, your own engineer unit can't build a bridge for the remainder of the scenario.

Also: when your engineer unit is using Bridge Ops, its presence counts towards the Road Stacking limit, so it's sort of situational how effective this is going to be.

As rail bridges are light in modern(ized) PzC games, there's little reason to blow them up.
