Wooden Battleships and Steely Sailors - Dan Caviness - 01-03-2021

Hello My Blitzing Friends!

I have uncovered a pretty serious flaw in the RS game as regards Battleships and Cruisers.
Both Allied and Axis.

It appears, please check me in case I'm corrupted (more than usual I mean), but it appears the Battleships and Cruisers in the Rising Sun OOB are SOFT targets.  I haven't checked WF or EF.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that 8 plates of 2 inch banded steel, cross stitched, welded and annealed is indeed a HARD target.

In our new test game...I had two Battlewagons and three Cruisers go down like Linda Lovelace...

I know Jason isn't interested in modding a 20 year old game, and he's got real work to do, so I can't blame him.
Big Ivan?
You got your ears on?

Regards,

Old Man Dan

Hey Old Man Dan,

Yes I do have my ears on but sometimes they do get clogged with Bud Light foam!

No idea how to make it a hard target and yes after all these years I never noticed that either. WTF old age and not paying attention!?

My guess it has to be something in the code for the individual Japanese units in this case P21850 and P21845.

Maybe Jason or Warhorse has an idea? if they could point me in the right direction I could mod it.

Cheers Radar Dan!
John

Hi guys, fixed it, will let Jason know! Will post the platoon files here if he's ok with it.

:EDIT-the fix is available up in the third party mods area, RS Ship Fix.

Thanks Mike for the special help. I knew those platoon files need a special program to open and I don't have it.

Thanks again my friend!! Big Grin

Hey Mike...maybe I'm doing it wrong, but it doesn't seem to work.

Sorry for this, I'm not the sharpest with computers.

I unzipped, dragged the files into the RS directory, and when prompted to overwrite I said yes.

So I tried opening an old Hot Seat test game, our current 6 man team game, and a new game, none of which changed.
Still got those softy battlewagons and cruisers for both Axis and Allies.

I'm estimating it's 90% probable this is my error and something I have done wrong.

Regards,

Dan
