New (Large) Gettysburg Scenario - 2-81 Armor - 05-06-2019

[attachment=4744]Here's a very large in map area Campaign Gettysburg Scenario for members to play, modify, and improve on as they see fit.

The map (twice the size of anything else in the game) was created by David Freer (Strela), and play testing was done by both Mike Hicks (Der Landser), and John Ferry, who also provided insight on other matters concerning scenario creation.

This was to have been the first of four intended to make use of the new map, but various issues caused the project to be abandoned. Rather than waste what work was completed, it's being offered here "as-is".

This is a historical scenario that begins at dawn on July 1, 1863 and ends at sundown on July 4, 1863. Both Armies begin in their historical starting positions, with the map area being large enough to show the entire Army of the Potomac at one glance. Intended for Head to Head or Solo play only. There is no AI. It is very long, totaling 212 Turns, so you have been warned!

The intention was to give both sides the opportunity for free maneuver, not being restricted by map size to having the main (or any) battle at Gettysburg. Players can explore different possibilities including Meade's Pipe Creek Plan, or Longstreet's proposed flanking march, to name just two.

The OOB also includes units from the Union 8th and 22nd Corps, along with a possible Confederate IV Corps. These do not appear in this Scenario, but were kept in the master OOB which was an adaptation of the one originally done by the late Douglas Strickler. This will enable users to create variations and what-if's if they desire. Enjoy!

All mistakes, oversights, and bugs are my responsibility alone.

EDIT: (8-28-19) Please see the new posting above for a new version.
