K85 and ME67 art/sceanrio pack updated - Volcano Man - 11-27-2012

Not sure how I found time to do it, but I updated the Korea '85 and Middle East '67 art/scenario packs. ME67 now has the full Alt treatment like K85 (finally!).

At some point I will update Danube Front '85_Alt, and also convert Operation Peace for Galilee '82 and Jihad 2004 to the _Alt values but... so... little time...

Have fun.

Ugh, probably bad timing but who knows. If Korea '85 or Middle East '67 get officially updated to have night disruptions and bunker building then I will update them both again (but who knows when that will be).

Sounds good, Thanks!

Nice. One little thing though...

You are a 2ID alumni, right? Did you know that the divisional periodical from the 80s (among other periods) is available for download/viewing on the net? For instance, one can read about how the division got its MLRS battery in late 1983 and transitioned to M60A3 TTS in 1984 (the stock OOB is based on Isby and Kamps and like so much other infor in that book, is simply not current for the mid-1980s).

Just thought you might find this interesting :)

No, I am a 1AD alumni. :) Hmm, yes, if you can summarize the 2ID's difference of that periodical in the context of what I should change in Alt OOB, then I would certainly like to make the adjustments in the next update. Message me that if you have the time and I will take a look.

Most of it is here (declassified DoD memoranda). Scanned printouts, so unfortunately hard/impossible to use a search tool to quickly browse thrm.

Looks like the 2nd Inf Divs Historical reports "only" covers the years 1984-87, but since those are actually he years of particular interest, perhaps not that bad :)

RE: K85 and ME67 art/sceanrio pack updated - Volcano Man - 11-27-2012

Thanks. Hmm, can you point me in the right direction to where the data is about the MLRS and M60A3(TTS)? I downloaded the 1984 and 1985 2ID history and I don't have the time to read over 80 x 2 pages of documentation. I will have to put it on the far back burner unfortunately, unless you know exactly where the info is.

RE: K85 and ME67 art/sceanrio pack updated - JDR Dragoon - 11-27-2012

It is mentioned in the general 8th Army history for he Fiscal Year 1983 (page 88) and 1984 (page VI plus page 61-72 "Readiness and Force Developments")

http://koreaatourofduty.us/files/8thArmy84.pdf

And in the 2nd Inf Divisional History for FY84 (page III, page 44+ "Reorganizing to the J series MTOE" plus page 51+ "Force Modernization", is of course of special interest here)

In the 8th Army History series there are even nuggets about ROK modernizations here and there (buying used M48A5s, etc.).

Thanks, very helpful. I wasn't even looking in the right documents before. Eek

RE: K85 and ME67 art/sceanrio pack updated - Volcano Man - 11-27-2012

Good stuff, without a doubt it states that the 2ID M48A3s were replaced by the M60A3s in 1984. I will make sure that happens in the next Alt update. I may not change it in the stock game though (in the next update) considering that scenarios were balanced given the current data that was known at the time, but I will have to investigate that aspect first.

As for the J series MTOE, it seems like that is in place already with the four company mech battalions, and the E company M901s so it seems like the only thing that should be corrected is the replacement of the M48A5s with M60A3s. That should certainly help the allies. :)

BTW...

Apologies everyone, but if you downloaded the updated Korea '85 or Korea'85 Chinese Expansion pack earlier today, then please download it again. An important error was noticed and corrected with NKPA/DPRK brigade level HQ units. Sorry for the inconvenience.
