First time for everything - Weasel - 12-24-2008

Playing FA round 3 and for the very first time I had a helicopter shot down by an SU-24! I never knew this could occur but sure enough the SU-24 came in, fired a missile or two, was hit by a SAM and then used it's auto-cannon on a low altitude helicopter. Pretty cool...and new to me!

I didn't think the game could handle stuff like that ?

RE: First time for everything - Vesku - 12-24-2008

That's an old feature but rarely happens.

Are there any more quirks of the game out there like that, that anyone else knows ??

I once played a game against the AI. My Germans against the Russkies. What I saw for the first time was, that a russian plane (I think it was a La-5) attacked an own T-70 and managed to immobilise the tank. The tank was completely alone, there was nothing in the same hex. I do not know, how often You have seen sth like that, but I thought the game could not handle confusing his own buddies with the enemy from above.

Cheers
Michael

I can say from experience that my own planes have attacked my own armour so many times I have lost count. lol.

Aircraft can strike multiple non adjacent hexes in one run. They can fire at hexes not in their direct flight path with guns and rockets. In very rare circumstances they can zero in on a unit in one hex (attacking the unit, not the hex) then fly on for let's say 500mtrs and strafe another unit (and not hex). Haven't seen that often but it does happen.

Seen that once and I was sure it was a bug. Good to know that it can happen.

It just happened again (two turns in a row), but this time he missed. My helo was landed this time, last time he was at low level.
