On the lighter side - Iwo Jim - 06-20-2007

I just picked up the first season of Hogan's Heros on DVD, I haven't seen any of those episodes in a long time......funny stuff well worth the 30 dollars spent...Schultz is my hero.....

Not sure i've ever heard of Hogan's Heroes, is it a series that ever made it across the pond do you know?

It made it down to the dominions, but i can say i only remember it as a re-run. Too young:) I really enjoyed it.

Yes, definitely. Probably just before your time though..........early seventies.

I'm sure it will be on one of the digital channels as a repeat sometime - worth a look :)

RE: On the lighter side - Weasel - 06-22-2007

Now I remember hearing a long time ago when Bob Crane was still alive that Werner Kempler (Col Klink) was a real prison camp commandant during the war. Anyone else confirm this?

RE: On the lighter side - Weasel - 06-22-2007

Ok, found this on a H.H. fan club site:

"Werner Klemperer was born in Cologne, Germany, on March 22, 1920. The son of renowned German-Jewish conductor Otto Klemperer, he and his father fled Germany after Hitler came to power in the 1930s."

RE: On the lighter side - shortreengage - 06-22-2007

I also saw him in a US Navy training film as a U-Boat commander.

RE: On the lighter side - Havoc - 06-23-2007

Bob Crane was murdered in 1978 by yet unknown person or persons.

RE: On the lighter side - Havoc - 06-23-2007

A movie was made about Bob Crane and the murder: "Auto Focus" in 2002, starring Greg Kinnear.

So much for the lighter side...
