Tournament Sub Foums interest? - RedDevil - 06-11-2007

All tournament directors and participants

Would you guys want a separate Sub forums for tourneys to help keep the tourney INTEL posts from getting to mixed up in the regular daily posts?

It would display just like the ones on the CM forums do

Sure,sounds like a good idea.

1. Who can look through these forums except for participants of tournament (who from moderators) ?

2. These forums only for tournaments registered in The Blitz (now it: Czerpak and Wigam tournaments) ?

everyone registered on the Blitz can view, read, and post on them, they are not side specific, or limited viewing like the ones you and Wigam have set up for the Swedish invasion. They would be for announcing and keeping tourney notices separate from the daily banter.
I can allow non-registered viewers to post as well if needed.

I prefer they be used for Blitz tourneys of course, but as a service and courtesy we can accommodate outside tourneys as long as there are Blitz members participating. whatever helps the communities and benefits our members is possible

Wufirs tourney can be resisted in the Blitz as well I just need his member # and a link to a web site (if any) to put him in the list.

thats a very good idea. I'd like to have seperate sub-forum for each tourney (thats what you mean, right ?).
No need to limit viewing in general, but that would be very handy if tourney master could make secure sub-forums ( but even if we technically cant have that, normal sub-forums are great as well)

We can do a separate one for each tourney or 1 for all, either way works

as for limiting access, it is possible, but not something anyone outside of the Forums admins could do.

Cant you just set anyone as sub-forum admin ?
Just a question, it is a minor issue really. The idea itself is already a great improvement.

If I have correctly understood, these forums are made for convenience of participants of tournament to not search for them in the bottom of the list !

Good idea ! :)

there's a difference between moderators and administrators :)

Mods can do anything with the threads and posts but they have no access to the admin panel of the forums themselves.

What is required to limit forums access is a group needs created and users for that group added to it. Then permissions need set to limit that group from seeing what it's not allowed to see, while allowing those allowed to see, and vice versa.

It's not complex but it requires a bit of management to get & keep the groups right.
