Greetings to all early war aficionados out there! I have just finished my first serious attempt on a Winter War scenario.

**Higher Ground EF:FB (3 March 1940) sees elements of Finnish 2. Division holding a position at strategic high ground of River Vuoksi heights, against a concentrated push of the Soviet 13th Infantry Army units, determined to create a break out into inner Finland to add pressure to the truce negotiations just begun in Moscow.

In the words of the actual 2nd Division situation report: "Today we are yet alive, tomorrow we'll be in deep distress, and the day after tomorrow the 2nd Division will no longer exist, unless III Army Corps sends assistance in all manners possible."

EF:FB 1.35 required for Finns receiving the new French Hotchiss 25mm ATG equipment, sent straight into battle, in this scenario as well as at the time in history. ATR and Molotov cocktail units add to the force mix for stopping the streams of enemy tanks approaching the trenches.

For the Red Army player, a motivated Morale 6 fighting force with plenty of early war tanks. T-26s, T-26 Flamethrowers, T-28s... And a formidable artillery train, albeit taking its time a bit in arriving to the scene. Why hurry, with all those tanks around?

The scenario sets Allied Finland against Axis Soviet Union, who in co-belligerence with Nazi Germany had just divided Eastern Europe into spheres of interest in the secret protocol of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. Poland has fallen. Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia have succumbed to Soviet military bases.

This was a time when many nations had not yet finally decided their sides on the coming world conflict. Another Forgotten Battle now available and looking for play testers. I have just begun a playtest with John Given - thanks John!

Please join in, the scenario is now available in the H2H Forum: https://www.theblitz.club/h2h_production...dder&lid=2

Version 2 now available for playtesting. Changes include e.g. Soviet morale upgrade to 7, less artillery, less trenches, some tweaks to reinforcement schedule. It should still be an absolute slug fest until the end, with both sides paying a high price for the ownership of the few key victory locations.

I have a new test in progress with John Given, more testers welcome!

EF:Forgotten Battles mod required for playing.
I'm up for testing this scenario if anyone wants to. I'm writing a short article for Strategy and Tactics (S&T) on Finnish weapons and tactics during the Winter and Continuation Wars so the timing is perfect.
Sounds good Scott! Have you visited http://jaegerplatoon.net/ , lots of detailed weapons information to support your article perhaps.

All, please consider playtesting the scenario. As I've mentioned earlier, the plan is to include Allied Finland into next official JTCS patch, after which the EF:Forgotten Battles mod will not be needed to play these Arctic Front scenarios any longer. (And no, medics won't be included, so if that is the reason not to install the mod: no worries there either)

I am in the process of releasing the next Vuosalmi scenario into H2H forum. Then, there will be three different scenarios based on the very same lcoation. Each map is individual though, and each area seems to be getting a tad bigger per a new scenario... All this results in three completely different battles, on familiar ground so to say...

March 1940 - Higher Ground (this one): Soviet 15th Army Corps trying to force a breakthrough over a frozen Vuoksi river during the very last, bitter days of Winter War. LINK

August 1941 - On Familiar Ground (working title at least until now): Finnish 18.D forcing their way south of the river, during the initial phases of the Finnish push to reconquest the land ceded after Winter War. LINK Only a week or three before it is released!

July 1944 - Across River Vuoksi: Stongly enforced Soviet 98th Army Corps forcing a bridgehead north of the river as a final attempt to break through the Finnish defence towards the end of their summer offensive. LINK

Battle Kat. Thanks for the Jaegerplatoon link!! Will help immensely.

All: willing to test this scenario at anytime, just send me a message.
It might still be a bit heavy on artillery (which is something I want, lots of arty, just short of too much of it). Should be good fun!
