Does anyone know if it possible to add more slots for additional tunes to sounds.dat file? Or is that the place.

I would like to add the 32 tunes the "Essential War Film Themes" CD includes to game engine.

I know I could just use a MP player instead of the JTCS background music feature, but I sort of like the idea that it would be JTCS that selects the random tune...

TIA, Petri
I'm not sure about that, Petri. I know the movement/fire sounds, I added a few, but it was maxed out at 25 or 26, wouldn't allow any more. You might have to do an experiment!
Thanks Mike. Do you have any idea which lines/values correspond to background music? I have no idea how to start with it...
Hey Petri,

Since I do a lot of tinkering, I tend to find/keep all sorts of references, when ever I can! This is something I got from some forum, not sure if here or Matrix, but pretty much might sum it up for you.

WF

abackN (N=0-2) ambient background music

=> Having listened to EF abackN files, I believe these are the Allied marching songs?

backN (N=0-7) various battle effects for background

nbackN (N=0-5) neutral (?) background tunes and music

pback1 German anthem
pback2 Italian anthem

Pback8 French anthem
Pback9 British anthem
Pback10 US anthem

xbackN (N=0-4) are German marches
0 Tschingta Tschingta Bummtara
1 Ambient tune
2 Erika
3 Die Braune Kompanie
4 ?

Victory1_N & MVictory1_N "German" congratulations
Victory8_N & MVictory8_N "French" congratulations
Victory9_N & MVictory9_N "British" congratulations
Victory10_N & MVictory10_N "US" congratulations

EF
pback0 Soviet Union / Russian anthem
pback1 German anthem

nbackN (N=0-16) ambient background tunes

xbackN (N=0-5) are German marches

That being said, in this line from EF Sounds.dat-3 6 8 17, would lead me to believe the 3 is abackg 0-2,ambient background music, 6 is xbackg 0-5, German March or background songs? 8 is the background battle sound effects, and 17 would be the nbackg 0-16 ambient background tunes.

Hope this helps!?

Thanks, the last paragraph will get me started. I will try to change those numbers into bigger ones, and import some new oggs from my CD.

The middle part was from my previous post somewhere here LOL
