Not to be out done by the German swine, I'm starting a little DAR section for the Russians. We'll see how it goes!

Below are some shots of my battle in the North against Cargol. We're only on turn 8, so not much to report beyond my initial set-up and plan in all its glory (or was that folly?):rolleyes:

Here are the 3 set-up zones. The one on the right is outlined in white, so is invisible against the snow.

Here is the opening Order of Battle;

...and my plan;

Main objective is to capture the flags of course, but I have also been tasked with trying to get a small group positioned to head north to set-up a blocking position on the main East-West road (see the Google map) in case the Germans try to use it to infiltrate our rear. The SMG company and left rifle platoon will try to infitrate the town, and again try to draw out any heavy german ordinance. The tanks will hang back for the time being until I have a better idea of what he has. Our intelligence reports infantry only, but I'm not betting my limited armour assets on such claims. The mortars and Maxims are positioned to suppress any guns and MGs that are uncovered by my advancing infantry.

That is the plan!

P.S., line of sight is about 1 km, so my armour should be OK where they are...
After 8 minutes, here is the situation on my left;

And in my centre and right;

My apologies for the small print. I've found that if one holds the control key, and then use your mouse wheel, you can zoom in and read it. I'll know for next time to just type any explanatory text into the body of the post, rather than on the screen shot within MS Paint...

Live and learn.
Hi there , how do I get the photos in the thread ....?
Hi Wombat;

There;s a great how-to here;

It sounds daunting at first, and as you can see it involves a bit of a learning curve, but I found the process pretty straight-forward once I jumped in. I'm just sitting down to improve my pictures, so the text is legible!
Good job on the DAR, I know what is out there and yet still find myself looking at these threads with anticipation, and with over 2,000 views on this little tourny so far, it would seem that I am not the only one interested in how things go. Excellent job guys.
crumbs ... righto bear with me as I work this out !
Willow, do you get that there isn't any resistance on your front? If so then press ahead.

I expect signficant resistance on my front since it is in their center which means I will reinforce the flank that is making most progress which may be the North.
Ratzki; thanks for the compliment. After years of enjoying reading these forums, I am really enjoying finally getting involved a bit.

Herroberst; I'm getting some accurate MG fire that is causing my guys to pin and occasionally panic. I know my last 2 screen shots are hard to read (:hissy:) - on my left and centre the lead squads have been under fire since the 2nd minute, and I am still unable to see where it is coming from. Any ideas on how I might be able to spot better? I have a company HQ on the snd floor of one of the facories, which I thought would help. I am moving my T-70s slowly up the middle, 1 out front, 4 about 50m behind. I'm keeping the T-34s well back for now.
Hi not doing well on this AAR idea ! files too large etc anyhoo- getting pretty acuarte MG fire as well
Hi Wombat;

Are you using Photobucket to host your pictures?
