trying to take intersection - here is how it is looking - German are putting up a fight - trucks have been spotted at the rear ? bringing in or taking out troops - not clear

That's odd how the T-34 rounds were consistently short. Hard to tell, but maybe the German mgs are in a subtle dip? Keep up the good work!
ahhhh crud Buckets.. The T34's on the righ flank needed to start suppressing the MGs on the troops right flank so decided that the gun might be suppressed for 60 seconds ... big mistake ..

so first the gun opens up and ...

then , well his gun is damaged but !

crapola! ... (I'm sure that is a Russian word).
finishing up .. pulling late one - sleep at work I think ;) - troops getting hit hard and there is a 20mm somewhere .. looks like they really want to hold that intersection
Too bad CW! I know how you feel. If its any consolation, I've been playing against Mr. Chuck for a few months, and he is an outstanding player.
C Wombat, could you resend me your password for your game, it appears I am missing it. Thanks
no worries -sent private message

cheers
Report from Centre force - we are continuing our push through downtown Tatsinskaya. There is a lot of ground to cover - that map is 2km long (by about 1600m).

[Image: LS-Dusk-CentreMapOverview.png]

There is a large factory complex in the centre, a railyard running east -west, and interestingly a wooded area running along the north edge. The southeast corner has a road leading to the southern intersection that our comrades fought for this morning.

My resources are meager;

leading me to the following set-up;

[Image: LS-Dusk-CentreMapPlan.png]

I decide to avoid any movement in the open, and plan on virtually my entire force advancing through the northern woods. My SMGs will lead through the woods, followed by my tanks up that road indicated in red. My hope is that this concentration will wipe out anything north of the railway, while getting lots of cover from the rest of the map.

The rest of my set-up zone is sparse to say the least! I use ATRs to hold the flags that were already inside my zone, plus a few Maxims just for show. I'm hoping BW will be hunkered down without any mobile units yet.

Well, that's the plan. I understand another Soviet player is playing this map. I hope to see what his take on it was!
ok , here we go - set up is to take the cross roads at all costs - big push up the tree line with support supplied by 2x t34s in rear mortars and maxims in tree line .. arty spotter to clobber intersection and a couple of rifle platoons to take the pain and provide support on the right side - hoping depleted german units will be knocked over quickly

[Image: turn2.png]

then it all goes to crap .. large number of MG open up sounds of guns open up ... totally outgunned
two guns on right flank

at least one on left - both t34s cop it before they get a shot back

[Image: guns.png]

boys are facing tough odds up the middle ...

What a drag Combat Wombat! Oh well, at least you know where he is. Do you have much arty ammo left? Pound the you-know-what out of them for a few turns maybe.

I've managed to move about 200m forward in 6 minutes! I think I'll be able to pick up the pace a bit now that my infantry is entering the cover of the buildings and scattered trees.

It is slow-going, but much preferable to going head-on.
