This mod will not effect any OOB files, and can be installed mid-game with no PBEM or security problems.

Cross Sounds changes almost all of the decade old original sounds, considerably improving their quality and realism.

Cross Sounds 0.9 replaces 94% or 143 of the original 152 sounds.

New in 0.9

•New Mortar Firing sound
•New Incoming Artillery sound
•Some new Explosions
•New Ricochet sounds
•Updated Infantry Movement sound – added equipment jingle
•New Horse and Cart sound
•New Infantry Assault Boat sound (rowing boat)
•New Barge and Landing Craft sound
•New Cannon sound
•Over two dozen new Machine Gun sounds
•Adjusted the volume for a couple of sounds

•Improved and updated Excel Sound Guide.

SPMBT & SPWW2
SPWW2 and SPMBT have always used the same sounds and sound map, so this mod can be installed in both games.

However, the MBT game gives you the option to use WAV or MP3. WAV is usually the default, but may depend when you first installed MBT.
You can only use this mod with MBT if you use WAV, or switch to WAV (which I recommend as it’s better quality).

Downloads include an Excel sound guide which identifies most of the sounds.

Installation
1. Create a backup of your original 'Sounds' folder .
2. Unzip and copy or move the wav files into the games 'Sounds' folder and Replace All. Sounds folder is in the Game Data folder.

Feel free to post feedback, issues or suggestions here.
Thanks you very much.
I appreciate your work.
Do you think there any way to get The CAMO guys to use this?

Cheers!

I found the 0.8 soundmod very appealing. One weak spot of MBT is definetly boring and repeating sounds. Nice to see it improving, file is downloading as i type. Thumbs up, mate! :cool:

I did not record these sounds myself. They are all freely available on the internet.

I've compiled them for individuals to use with SP; but if they were offered commercially you'd run into copyright issues.

I often changed the sounds, mixing them with other sounds, shortening them, fading them in or out, changing the tone, removing background noise etc... For those that have been changed beyond recognition, they can be considered an original work where I own the copyright; but I'm not even going to go there...
Cool ! :cool:

I congratulate on perfectly done work !
cheers
I shall go to enjoy and to clubmates I shall tell !

If any of the sounds come from SPWAW, they will not use it...
Congrats to Cross for doing this, the SPMBT and SPWW2 sounds have always been a pain to change or edit, I know how long and hard you had to work to do this.
cheers
Absence of a sound is not habitual by pressing various buttons.
But has soon forgotten about it, became less than superfluous sounds. :smoke:

Has pleased a successful shot in the tank of the opponent - beautifully sounds! :whis:

Still has not understood it is pleasant or not, some sounds of shooting MG and Rifle. :chin:
Cross, sir, genius per genius.

However, being able to barely turn on a computer...how do I tell MBT to use the .WAV files and not the MP3's?

Thanks for your work on this, as it makes one of my favorite things even better. Please note, I said "one" of my favorite things:cool:

Hi Gunslngr,

First, you need to check if your MBT is using WAV or MP3.

Go into your MBT 'Sounds' folder (found in the 'Game Data' folder)

In the 'Sounds' folder is a file called "Sounds.ini"
Right Click on it, and Open with...Notepad

Your MBT uses WAV files if you see something like this:

sound000="1click.WAV"
sound001="1.WAV"
sound002="2.WAV"
sound003="Null.WAV"
sound004="4.WAV"
sound005="5.WAV"

Your MBT uses MP3 files if you see this:

sound000="1click.mp3"
sound001="1.mp3"
sound002="2.mp3"
sound003="Null.mp3"
sound004="4.mp3"
sound005="5.mp3"

To change to WAV:

1. Right Click on the "Sounds.ini" file, then RENAME...to something like "MP3sounds.ini". This will stop MBT from using MP3s.

2. Find your backup WAV sounds.ini file.
In the Sounds folder, there is probably another folder called "WAV".
Go into the WAV folder and there should be a WAV 'Sounds.ini' file.
(If you Right Click and Open with...Notepad it should point to WAV files)

3. Move the WAV 'Sounds.ini' file into your 'Sounds' folder.
Make sure it is named 'Sounds.ini'.

You should be all done. MBT will now use WAV files.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you get stuck and we'll try to sort it out.
Thanks, works just fine on MBT now...my wife made me turn the volume down:(
