Ladder points for finishing a JTCS Hosted Modification game?
Dear all,

I just finished playing Mike/Warhorse 's First Contact scenario, under the K'talan Mod.

Had tons of fun!

To encourage other members to try the Hosted Modifications, I was wondering if it would be possible to award ladder points for finishing them?

Now I know Mike/Warhorse's Korean Mod is now part of the ladder system. But what about his K'talan Mod, or my Lapland Mod for that matter.

Of course I have a vested interest, but my motivation is simply to encourage others to try these out?

What do you think y'all?

RE: Ladder points for finishing a JTCS Hosted Modification game?
I just was having a discussion about this very thing earlier with a couple of the Mods. I know my K'talan mod is not WW2 specifically, but it IS set in WW2! I was told they needed time to think this one over, which is cool, but does anyone here totally NOT like the idea? I don't see the harm, the tally so far on total downloads for the K'talan Mod on Rapidshare alone is at 47, however, I also now have it going from Dropbox, and can't tell how many have gotten it from there. It is a CS game, WF in fact, and if someone doesn't like that genre, they just won't play it, correct? Anyhow, just wondering what the concensus is on the matter, please don't make a flame war out of it, as that is not my intent!! I did spend many years making it, and have new scenarios in the making, just need folks to play it, and would get more players if they could get points playing scenarios! I suppose we can start a ladder for it at the WGFG site, but would really like it here, as this was my first "home"!

It is JTCS, isn't it.

This is not the WW II forum, this is the Campaign Series forum?

And there's the Cold War Modification there as well. It is not WW II either...

Well, yes and no. It utilizes the CS engine, but CS is East Front, West Front and Rising Sun. There are accepted modifications, like Korea and Viet Nam, but the game itself is those three. All based on history, albeit in many cases, fictionalized history. The question is, do we want to add science fiction into the mix?

Ideally, a separate ladder, but when I proposed this in the Officer's barracks, the very first response was that the K'talan mod section is a ghost town. So it's doubtful it could support it's own ladder and forum.

So it comes down to how the CS community would feel about adding it as part of the ladder. Are we OK debating bug traits over halftrack debates? Personally, I sort of don't like it, but not so strongly that I'd stand in it's way if everyone wants it. So weigh in.

Hey guys, seriously, if you don't want to include it, no hard feelings, don't want it to be a bone of contention!!

I'll try to get it on the other site, I don't want to start anything...

I really don't care what the club decides to do. I have two tourney badges. One of them is for the Vietnam mod of Divided Ground. So at one time, other than WWII JTCS was allowed around here.

I think a badge would be in order.
That is the way it has been in the past.
Ladder points are for reporting and testing games, winning tourneys (which also can have badges awarded), and winning quizzes.

Not sure points were ever given for modding. Or, that they should be.

cheers

No, I don't want ANYTHING for my modding, you misunderstand, just points for folks that play scenarios in the ladder, like the rest!! My reward is everyones enjoyment, I really mean that!

Yes it should get points for completing a game as should the other mods, while not official release they are all facets of the same game and played in the same way that divided ground was and I would hope modern wars will be included too and not forced to have a separate ladder.
