22 February, 1944: U-510, while making it's way to Penang, cruised along the coast of East Africa and into the Gulf of Aden. There Kptlt Eick found the juicy target of PA-69, a good sized tanker convoy. He made two successful attacks. Arriving in Penang on 5 April, he was notified that he had been awarded the Ritterkreuz shortly thereafter.
