15 March, 1941: In the horrible conditions of spring in the North Atlantic, Kptlt Lemp of the U-110 resorted to submerging every four hours to listen on hydrophones. At 2200 he made contact, running that down he discovered Convoy HX 112. Making a contact report, he moved into attack. The British tanker Erodona was the first victim. Forced down by the escorts, the convoy moved off, but Lemp followed and mounted a second, less successful attack.
