May 22, 1943 The USS Bogue was the first of the US Escort Carriers to be deployed to the war against the U-Boats. Up to this point, her planes had attacked a few submarines with spotty results. On May 22 it was acting as a distant escort to Convoy ON-184, and through the course of the day, her planes would attack 3 U-Boats, sinking U-569.
