Valencia 28-9 December 1811: Spanish Sortie - With less than three weeks supply of food and the population of Valencia demoralized, the Spanish general Blake realized that the only hope for his army would be to attempt a break out. Had he sortied earlier there would have been a better chance of success, since Suchet had only completed his blockade of the north bank late on 27th December.
