Scenario Briefing: The Battle of Malatitze (or Dobroe) (Historical)

The Swedish Army had been following the Russian Army attempting to fight the decisive battle with the Russians. The Russians were evading the Swedes as they were playing a longer game - intent on grinding them down.

The Swedes had set up camp near the Russians near Malatitze. The Russians had noticed that one Swedish detachment - led by Roos, had camped further away from the main body and was somewhat isolated. Russian confidence had grown and they planned an uncharacteristically ambitious infantry and dragoon attack for early the following morning with the aim of destroying these units. It was to be a two pronged attack, cavalry from one side and infantry across the marshes with the aim of inflicting casualties on the swedes before reinforcements could arrive.

Under the cover of a heavy fog, the Russian infantry deployed early in the morning and achieved the element of surprise - the Russian dragoons, however, had difficulty coordinating their movements and didn't arrive to support the infantry attack.

Note: There are no territorial objectives as the purpose of this attack was to inflict casualties. One point objectives have been added to assist the AI.
