Scenario Briefing: The Battle of Poniec (What-if)

Upon learning of the Polish recapture of Warsaw, King Charles XII decided to move towards the capital, and hunt down the Polish King Augustus II, as well as the Saxon army under General Schulenburg that accompanied him. Upon learning of this, the Polish king ordered a retreat towards Cracow. On the afternoon of November 7th (or October 28th according to the Swedish calendar) King Charles XII caught up with the retreating Saxons on the outskirts of the town of Poniec.

In this version of the scenario the Swedish King decides not to attack until the rest of his army has arrived, and settles down for the night. Next morning, when the Swedish army are drawn up in battle formation, ready to attack the Saxons, they notice that Schulenburg has withdrawn to a new defensive position.
