The Battle of Shevardino, Pull Them Back! - September
5, 1812 - Realizing that the forces occupying the Shevardino
Redoubt are at risk, Kutusov overrides Bennigsen's wish and orders
the exposed troops back. Covering the initial withdrawal is Neverovkii's
27th Division along with some Cossacks. The 27th infantry division
and Cossacks are still on the field as the French advance guard
closes in. The Russian commander must attempt to extricate as
much of his force as possible.
