Scenario length – 12 hours
August 24, 1942 [Variant] On the afternoon of August 23, the Saratoga sent a strike against IJN Trasnports that had been reported in the Slot. They were unable to find their targets in the poor visibility, and returned to Henderson Field, with the intention of returning to the carrier the next morning. This scenario starts with the Saratoga Air Group still at Henderson Field, and gives the entire day for both sides to maneuver and hunt for the enemy. (Note, Henderson Field was severely short of anti-shipping ammunition, so the Saratoga Aircraft left their bombs behind when they left. The ammo stocks at Henderson are very low to reflect this.) Aside from placing the Saratoga aircraft at Henderson, this scenario differs from the standard Eastern Solomons scenario in using "Deployment Boxes" to give a certain amount of random deployment to both sides.
