Scenario length – 30 minutes June 20, 1944. Admiral Spruance (Commander 5th Fleet) saw his primary job in the Marianas to be covering the invasion forces. Therefore, Task Force 58 was not released to attack the Japanese Carrier Fleet until the day after the "Turkey Shoot", and by the time the US forces were able to locate the Japanese and get into range, they were faced with the prospect of a dusk strike. The US Forces attacked, knowing that they were faced with a long, dark flight home afterwards.
