0700 25 December 1914. Zeppelin raids had spread fear throughought the British Islands. Admiralty decided to strike at the airships where they thought they were safe - in their sheds south of Cuxhaven at Nordholz. Three seaplane tenders were sent to launch a raid with orders to bomb the airbase. Fog and weather prevented them from successfully carrying out their orders, but they had ushered in a new era in warfare: the first ever airstrike versus land targets had been launched from the sea.
