The weather is turning bad, the seas are rough, and the resolve to prevail is just not there at the highest level--the level Ben Butler inhabits, full of pomp and ceremoney, glittering staff and rattling sabers. ******* This scenario begins on Christmas morning, 1864. The fleet arrived before Fort Fisher on Christmas Eve Day and unleashed a tremendous bombardment on the fort. This scenario commences with the resumption of the bombardment on Christmas Day, followed by landings--and attempted landings-- in the afternoon.
