Date: August 25th, 1192 - Size: Large - Location: City of Giza, near Cairo
Crusade: The Third Crusade
Scenario Briefing: Variant - In this variant of the previous and smaller battle for Giza scenario, a larger map will be used to make room for a much larger battle. The Crusaders are fully assembled with the entirety of their Egyptian expeditionary force. Also, Saladin and his Ayyubids are also fully assembled, with both armies poised to engage each other in this epic battle for control of Egypt.
Note that Giza is partially demolished and should not be considered a major Crusader objective. This scenario is a major clash of armies, not a siege situation. Also, if playing as an Ayyubid, there is a Mamluk cavalry unit that is fixed with a high percentage for release after the first hour of play.
Recommended Rules: [Default]
Intended to be played as either side against the AI and can be played Head-to-Head (PBEM).
Suggested Reading: Asbridge, Thomas, The Crusades: The Authoritative History of the War for the Holy Land.
