Crusade: The Third Crusade
Scenario Briefing: Variant - Bilbeis has fallen to Richard's advancing Crusaders. With this success, Richard will continue his march through Egypt. If victory can be achieved, then Egypt will have effectively fallen to the Crusaders and Jerusalem can be targeted and taken as it was during the 1st Crusade.
In this first variant for Giza, Saladin decided to demolish its walls to ensure that if taken, Richard will not have it as a base for future attacks deeper into Egypt. Also, in their eagerness to face each other in combat, each army has advanced with only their vanguard of cavalry. Giza will not be the primary target. Rather, each commander will seek out his counterpart. If either Richard or Saladin fall, then victory will almost certainly be achieved. Both are brave and will not shy from battle.
Draw your lances and spears, and advance into history. Be advised that there are no mounted archers used by either side in this battle.
Recommended Rules: [Default]
Intended to be played as either side, and can be played Head-to-Head (PBEM).
Suggested Reading: Asbridge, Thomas, The Crusades: The Authoritative History of the War for the Holy Land.
