Date: August 20th, 1192 - Size: Large - Location: City of Bilbeis, south of Damietta towards Cairo
Crusade: The Third Crusade
Scenario Briefing: Variant - In this variant of Richard's attack on Bilbeis, the Crusader army has been fully assembled along with a contingent of Templar knights. Additionally, Saladin too has been busy and to match Richard's advancing Crusaders, has assembled a large force to defend Bilbeis and defeat the Crusader's attempt to conquer Egypt.
This battle will take place on both sides of the Nile tributary and will be a fight that could decide Egypt's fate. As before, the Crusaders' main method to scale the walls of Bilbeis will be the use of ladders. Defend these units with ladders and choose your wall placements carefully. If possible, weaken or even eliminate the defenders from your chosen wall sections before you deploy your ladders.
Recommended Rules: [Default]
Intended to be played as the Crusader Alliance against the Anti-Crusader Alliance AI but can be played Head-to-Head.
Suggested Reading: Asbridge, Thomas, The Crusades: The Authoritative History of the War for the Holy Land.
