To do this, a much larger army was assembled from all over the Seljuk Empire. With the Muslim armies assembled, their first target was the County of Edessa.
With this as a major threat, the Crusaders from all the principalities gathered their forces and converged on the Crusader castle of Rugia, south of Antioch. From there, they moved south to Afamiya and finally marched to meet the Seljuks at Sharizar. Each army numbered over 12,000 and the oncoming battle has the potential to be decisive.
This scenario provides the Crusaders with siege engines capable of penetrating the walls of Sharizar, but also, the Muslims will have a numerical advantage and the potential to crush the Crusaders once and for all.
