Date: September 7th, 1101 - Size: Small - Location: The Town of Ramla
Crusade: Period between 1st and 2nd Crusade
Scenario Briefing: The new King of Jerusalem would have no peace in his newly taken lands around Jerusalem. To the north, the Seljuq Turks were making plans to counter-attack these invading Christians they referred to as the Franks. And to the south, the Fatimids from Egypt were always eager to move from their bastion at Ascalon and attack towards the Kingdom of Jerusalem.
On this day both armies advanced toward Ramla. They were both determined to destroy each other and gain both power and peace for their respective Kingdoms.
The armies that were to face each other were far different. The army of King Baldwin I was experienced and battle tested, but numbered slightly less than 1,200 knights and infantry. This was in sharp contrast to the numerically superior Fatimid Egyptians and their mostly horseless army, who numbered over 3,000.
In previous battles against the Seljuq Turks the Crusader army had been, time and time again, ravaged by the seemingly numberless mounted archers. But the Fatimids had not adopted this tactic and would not have the same battlefield respect from King Baldwin. This day will determine if respect can be earned.
Now take up the sword and sally forth into battle. The Sun shall not set this day until much blood has been soaked into the sands west of Jerusalem.
Note: In this scenario, the city of Ramla is only an obstacle to be bypassed. No siege engines are available to enter the city.
Recommended Rules: [Default]
Intended to be played as the Crusader Alliance against the Islamic Alliance A/I or Head-to-Head.
