(Historical) Like Heaton's Crossroads, the Battle of Cool Springs was a Union attempt to attack the retreating Confederates, then crossing the Shenandoah River. However, this affair would engage a larger number of troops and take place over two days. Union Generals Crook and Wright, both assumed that the Confederates defending the river crossing was nothing more than a small skirmish line. However, these troops sent out the message that they were under attack, and within a short time, Confederate General's Early and Breckinridge, were on their way to halt the Union attack. This scenario has the Confederate forces ready to engage and throw the Union forces back across the river.
