This scenario begins on May 4, as the first units of the Army of the Potomac begin their trek south, heading for a confrontation with Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. The Army of the Potomac is under George Meade, the victor of Gettysburg, but a new face has come east. He commands all the Union armies, including the one he accompanies. He brings a new philosophy of war to the ravaged fields of Virginia. Persons embarking on this scenario are taking a leap of faith. It has been tested to a length of "only" about 300 turns. Opponents need to be cooperative adversaries to work out unforseen complications. It also pays to think long-term, being aware for instance that while a slashing attack may cause a temporary setback to an adversary, it may cause a long term force problem. Measured, well thought out strategies are best. .
