14 June 1800 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - The first assault on Marengo was undertaken by Hidak's division of the Main Column. With flags unfurled and band playing they advanced into the maelstrom that was the French line responding to their maneuvers. Repulsing the advance elements of the French line they nonetheless could not crack the main line due to the difficult terrain and relentless fire from across the stream. Their assault failed they fell back behind Kaim's men, licking their wounds and ready for another assault soon thereafter. NOTE: Several of the Austrian units do not release during the scenario. This is intentional. They did not particpate in the attack but are on the map to show their historical position.
