14 April 1796 - Variant - Intended to be played Head to Head - See the Historical scenario for the description of the action. This version of the action credits the Austrians with the ability to concentrate their men at Dego for a combined defense. Should make for a much more balanced action. Exit hexes for the French player are added to dissuade the Allied player from exiting the map.

As playing the Allies side, I thought it was a very fun defensive scenario; one of the best I had played in the last few years. There were numerous times when I thought I was going to be overrun however, I was somehow able to survive and repel the attack(s).

The French had a routing issue which helped keep them in check. After playing it, not sure if the French could actually win this scenario, or not.

The added Austrians bring them to 75% of the French, yet the French still have to meet the same victory conditions with the same limited amount of VP's. It would take extremely good luck to win as the French if facing a competent opponent.

French start on a major defeat and have to attack an enemy with a lot of artillery in a strong geographic position. The exit hex is unattainable in the time allowed.

With latest updates Allies seem to have advantage.

If the Allies withdraw in an orderly fashion, hard to see even a draw for the French.
