19 April 1809(H) - The Austrian army was probing towards Saal and Abbach when they ran into elements of Davout's III Corps
marching from Saal to the Ratisbon-Abensberg road. Swiftly the divisions of Friant and St. Hilaire deployed for combat. The
latter was near Teugn, slightly behind Morand when the Austrian skirmishers opened fire on his columns. St. Hilaire's division turned to give battle. The fight was close most of the day. The Austrians counterattacked with great ferocity. Tactically the battle was a draw but Charles decided to pull his forces back
towards Langquaid and further to the east so operationally it can be considered a victory.
