A single brigade of Austrians from III Corps was sent to probe towards Abensberg to safeguard the Austrian advance towards Abbach. Under General Thierry they were parcelled out in small detachments to guard the crucial approaches to the vulnerable left flank of Charles army. What they found was two divisions on Bavarians. Outnumbered and outgunned they atttempted to hold on for the duration of the day to halt any advance they might make to turn the Austrian left. The only reinforcements they receive is a brigade of infantry from the V Corps. (for balanced play have a new gamer take the Bavarians while the more experienced gamer takes the Austrians)
