13 September 1808 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head or Solo as the Allied player vs. the AI (see RSW-Solo.pdf for Solo play victory levels) - The Russians were advancing along four lines. Their left wing forces had taken Vasa and was advancing north along the coast. Their center was at Lillkyrko and poised to move north along the coast in conjunction with the left wing forces. Their right flank was in an excellent position to take Gamla Karleby. A portion of the Russian center forces under Kozakovsky had moved almost due north towards Nykarleby and was poised to cut off the Swedish forces that were at Oravais. Klinspor saw this and sent von Döbeln's 2nd Brigade to Jutas (south of Nykarleby) to hold the line for the rest of the army. The Russian force under Kozakovsky advanced against the forces at Jutas. Their slow march pace allowed the Swedes to march to Jutas, form up a good defense and receive the Russian attack. The action lasted for about three and half hours with the Russians having failed to break the Swedish force. The Swede-Finnish force counterattacked and forced the Russians to retreat to the south. The emergency was over for the moment. Note: The Swedish forces begin the battle with fatigue which reflects their hurried march to the battlefield. The Swedes have been fixed but release by 4 PM. IMPORTANT SCENARIO RULE: All of Russian force must advance along the road and attempt to take the victory point location in hex 27, 62. On 4:30 PM turn they are free to adopt a defensive posture or retreat to the south.
