This is the entire first day of the Battle of Arcis-sur-Aube. Napoleon's advance to the left bank of the Aube was followed by a strong, but uncoordinated, reconnaissance by the Allies. His force eventually was able to hold off a powerful assault by a combined Austrian and Russian force.
