24 January 1814 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - Not to be confused with the battle in February between MacDonald's wing and the Allies, Mortier conducted a fine defense prior to Napoleon's entrance into the campaign. One of those places was Bar-sur-Aube. Faced on the left by the Wurttemberg 4th Armeekorps and the Austrian 3rd Armeekorps on the right his Guards forces held the line throughout the action. Finally due to numerical superiority to retreat they once again conducted a fine march such that the Allies never knew that they had pulled out to the north. Once again the Guard showed that their prowess not only on the battlefield but on the maneuver as well. This action covers the action on the right (southern) flank and is only a small portion of the overall action.

Short scenario. I ignored the left and concentrated on the right, weakening the French defenders with artillery and infantry fire until I could assault across the creek.

Challenging for both sides.
