On 13 March 1943 Hitler is killed by a bomb planted in his Condor aircraft by Henning von Tresckow. In the ensuing chaos the Wehrmacht seize power in Germany and declare the "Oberste Heeresleitung", a Supreme Command. In WWI the period when Hindenburg and Ludendorff were in command was the Third Supreme Command.
