1942-45 Campaign - War in the East

Historical Overview: After surviving a winter campaign it was not prepared for, the Axis now needs resources to support a longer war, and the oilfields of the Caucasus offer the best opportunity to secure these resources. Scenario Overview: The initial deployment of Axis forces does give the option to change the objectives from economic to politcal ones, but either option requires the destruction of the Red Army as a fighting force. Control of the entire length of the Volga River will ensure a decisive victory. The Soviet Union has significant reserves to respond to Axis thrusts to the south or center, but its offensive strength is limited and must be applied when the Axis is exhausted and over-extended. Axis Allies do not have the defensive ability of their German counterparts.
