The Manor la Fiere, 15 km W of Utah Beach, Normandy Coast: [Best played as Allied] In the hours before dawn, paratroopers of the 507th Regiment, 82nd Airborne, jumped from their planes over the Cotentin Peninsula. Their primary objective was to capture the Merderet River crossing at the Manor la Fiere. Unfortunately, the drops were poor and many of the troopers badly scattered, some so far they did not make it back to their units for weeks. As a result, instead of a well organized attack on the crossing, the "All Americans" gathered into what small groups they could and moved off to their objective without coordination. The result was a confused series of firefights, in the dark, in the most important battle of the war thus far.

Objectives held by Germans in Fortified castles are almost impossible to take with just small arms and light mortars

Allies lack enough punch to take the objectives they need to take.
Resolve then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tinny blasts on tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us. --Walt Kelly
