The Last Bulwark - The Matrix Games version of West Front

After the battle of Agordat, the british Gazelle Force and the 4th Indian Division pursuit of the italians enemy towards Keren, one of the five major secondary towns in Eritrea. A formidable barrier of hills guards the town and only one gap exists through this barrier, the narrow and climbing Dongolaas Gorge that takes both road and railway up to the Keren plateau, overlooked by Fort Dologorodoc. Here for several weeks, the Italians Granatieri, Alpini, Ascari and other colonial regiments defended this natural barrier to make an half-hearted attempt to stop the British Gazelle Force, the 4th, the 5th and the 9th indian Divisions who were driving them out of Ethiopia. This bloody and heroic battle signed the end of the italian Colonial Empire in Eritrea and Somalia. (Caution!
