Celles, 55km NW of Bastogne, Belgium: [Best played as Axis] By Christmas Eve 1944, Hitler's offensive through the Ardennes was beginning to lose its cohesion, but it was still a powerful fighting force and more than capable of battering its way to Antwerp. Having arrived at Celles area, only 7km east of the Meuse River bridges at Dinant, the spearhead of the German 2nd Panzer prepared to make a final lunge to seize the vital river crossings. With the US 2nd Armored pressing from the north and British units moving in to defend the river line it was critical that a bridgehead be seized at once. Early on the 24th a kampfgruppe under Major von Bohm thrust west through Boisselles against increasing resistance from the American 82nd Armored Recon Battalion. Outnumbered and outgunned, the GIs knew the Germans had to be held east of the Meuse but had little real firepower to do it with. Suddenly in the distance could be seen the distinctive shapes of Sherman tanks from the British 3rd RTR. The British were coming!

Narrow map doesn't give the Germans much room to move. Objectives are too undervalued, so the Germans don't have a chance. Even if they get through to the exit hexes, fixed fireflies await. Not much fun and no challenge for the allied player.
Resolve then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tinny blasts on tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us. --Walt Kelly
