Sanctuary of the Virgin de la Cabeza, Jaén. (This scenario created
for the West Front addon for the Spanish Civil War). 2 players.
Historical scenario. The nationalist rising in the province of
Jaén, and the arrival of the troops of Franco in Andalucia to
the south, has not favored the retirement of the republican troops
of the province. Numerous dispersed groups of forces have joined
the rising, as is the case of some troops of the Civil Guard
of the province. In an atmosphere of republican hostility, 500
people including Civil Guards, families and civilians shelter
themselves in the Sanctuary of the Virgin de la Cabeza located
in an optimal position for defense a mountain that dominates
the valley of the Guadalquivir. In that Sanctuary, Captain Cortés
offers to organize the defense of the Sanctuary, surrounded already
by republican forces, the 16th Mixed Brigade reinforced with
units of artillery. Supported only from the air by the Nationalist
airforce, the surrounded will have to fight against the republican
troops in the expectation of a possible nationalist releif effort.
This releif action never arrived and the Civil Guards had to
defend the place to the last man....perhaps an unsuitable exercise
of honor, more useful for propaganda than ending the course
of the war in this zone.

*******Spanish translation********* Santuario de
la Virgen de la Cabeza, Jaén. (escenario creado para el pack
de la Guerra Civil Española, WFront). 2 jugadores. Escenario
historico.

The republicans have more troops. But it is the only advantage.
I create and revise: Order of Battles, Table of Equipments, Weapon Values for Modern Wars (in work: DG Lebanon War 1982 - 1985, DG Falklands War and again CWE!)

This one should be played with the old assault rules. The lack of firepower of the early war units makes assaulting critical to victory.

Played with EA on.EA off would swing it to favour Allies. A nice little scen.

Not my favorite scenario, would not play this again against a human opponent, which is too bad given that it's the only Spanish Civil War scenario that's balanced for PBEM. Scenario came down to the final turn, but lack of firepower on both sides makes this one a bit of a drag. Would definitely NOT recommend playing with extreme assault ON.

It appears that the allies have more troops and some tanks but the axis are well dug in.

AA units would be nice for the Allies.
