Marnach, 2km E of Clervaux, Luxembourg: [Best played as Allied] One of the most overextended defensive positions on the entire "Ghost Front" was that of the 110th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division. Defending 15 miles of frontage with two reinforced battalions, the regiment had no choice but to break into company-sized teams to try to defend key positions. The town of Marnach sat astride a north-south ridgewith a scenic highway the the troops had nicknamed "Skyline Drive." Running west to east was a second highway, one which came from Germany, passed through Marnach and ran on to a crossroads town called Bastogne. Company B, 1/110 Infantry was tasked with defending Marnach and no position along Skyline Drive was more important. On the foggy morning of Null Tag, the first day of the German Ardennes Offensive, the infantry of two German divisions swarmed out of their West Wall fortifications and across the Our River. Using Hutier infiltration tactics, the German 2nd Panzer Division and 26th Volksgrenadier Division hoped to break through the densely wooded, hilly terrain and into the American rear. Well dug in and with a few tanks in reserve, the grizzled Pennsylvanians were determined to upset the German timetable. Every second they held was vital to Eisenhower, giving him time to react, respond and reinforce.

This is one of my favorite scenarios to play as allies vs. the ai. It is extremely challenging and unforgiving. The allied victory seems to depend on very thoughtful artillery placement, conservation of forces, and not putting the at gun into position until the last possible moment. If you can get the scout car to eliminate the axis headquarters all the better.
