[Historical, best played against human oponent] The stubborn defense of the Rocherath and Krinkelt had already upset the narrow timetable set forth by 6th Panzer Armee. The green defenders of 99th Infantry division had inflicted serious casualities on the grenadiers of 277 Volksgrenadier division and were now falling back through the lines of 2nd Infantry division. After another failed attempt at breaking open the way to Rollbahn A. 12th SS Panzer Division decided to unleash Kampfgruppe Müller! This powerfull battlegroup was to open the way for the rest of the division and I.SS.Panzer Korps, but to achieve this they had capture the twin villages.

For those loking for a historically accurate depiction of this battle: look elsewhere. The map scale has been altered to approximately 125 meters per hex, which significantly distorts the nature of the battle. The terrain features also do not reflect the true map detail that should be there. That, along with the OB as presented for both sides, will make this a frustrating playing experience for anyone interested in simulating the true battles at the "twin villages".

i enjoyed this scenario because it allowed me to battle in my favorite style - panthers on hilltops blasting from long range. Actually, I only captured two tiny objectives, as my victory was through attrition. However, if the American desires, he does have the power to hold the German back, so it would seem the German's only realistic option is via sheer numbers of enemy casualties. I had no chance of advancing to the "two cities, let alone exit any units.
Thus, what is of supreme importance in war is to attack the enemy's strategy.
